The sun breaks down skin's collagen and elastin, so make sure to slather up with a formula that contains Helioplex or Mexoryl and at least SPF 30.
Finding your “It” fit
Pop super-girl Gwen Stefani has made herself a beauty icon for internal tomboys and Marilyn Monroe worshipers alike. Counter acting her tiny frame (and trust me, it’s miniscule, I’ve seen her in person) are her bold, red lips and mega platinum ‘do. In a recent interview Stefani explained that dying her hair white blonde was very much an “ah-ha!” moment in which she finally felt like her true beauty self. She’s kept the signature color ever since.
This got me thinking. With all the trends that come in and out of the beauty world how do you find your niche? Every person needs that one go-to trick, product or look that they can be confident and gorgeous in. If you’re reading this thinking, “I have no idea” or “My routine changes all the time”, let me make a few suggestions.
For you beauty junkies, who have a whole cabinet full of lipsticks alone, find your signature fragrance. Beneath your ever changing look will be a true scent that will linger with everyone you meet and because your own pheromones affect the overall scent you give off, even someone wearing the same perfume as you can’t steal your trademark.
If you’re still finding your footing in the beauty department identify your favorite feature and go from there. For example, if you love your pouty lips, have a professional help you select a shade of gloss or lipstick that compliments your skin tone, lifestyle and attitude.
I believe that having an “it” fit in your makeup bag or closet is essential to building your self confidence and simplifying your beauty routine. It’s a small way to own your entire day – even the 16 hour ones.
